By default I play an unromanced, post-game, spawn Astarion. Thief 4/Gloomstalker 8. Willing to be flexible on the details of choices, companions, and the worldstate; I have about a thousand hours logged so I've seen just about everything.
content warnings Lying and manipulation. The cycle of abuse. Blood drinking (human and animal) due to his vampirism. Astarion's past includes torture, starvation, being buried alive, isolation, and scarification. His master forced him to bring him hundreds of victims, this included prostituting himself, taking advantage of the inebriated, and kidnapping children. Topics that may be triggering from his more recent past include: the threat of physical change/brainwashing from the parasite infesting he and his companion's brains; his attempts to exchange sex for personal safety; his treatment of monstrous but sentient D&D races, and the small races (gnomes, goblins, halflings) as lesser lifeforms (fantasy racism). I can try to avoid these topics as needed if asked, but the first three are pretty intrinsic and bound to come up in anything more than a text meme. smut Sure, but it's complicated due to Astarion's trauma. If he cares for someone who wants it of him or he thinks it will help him survive he will force himself and the narrative will reflect that; for genuine enthusiastic consent there needs to be a relationship of trust and an understanding of his past. Be ready for him to abruptly change his mind a lot, and to prefer non-sexual intimacy and kinks. For a smut-forward meme/psl, I'm willing to build out a backstory or handwave previous CR, but I do like getting weird with it. Kink list and more smut info here.

hooks, ideas, and aus.
• building on game canon Always down to play out missing scenes between party members, extensions to party dialogue, or Astarion with an NPC that he should have had more time with, and I love when things divert from canon into 'what if' scenarios. If you are canon familiar and want to AU your crosscanon character into the game with a brain slug problem that's more than welcome too.
• dark shipping While I'm pretty bored by non-con, I do enjoy all shades of horror including erotic horror and guro, enemies-to-lovers, bad endings, and tropes like "kissing in the blood of their enemies". Would love anything set in Bhaal's domain, or the Nine Hells. More than happy to encourage his canonmates' worst tendencies and RP with the companion's "bad ends", and would happily play off Bhaalspawn AUs, or AUing the other character as another one of Cazador's spawn. When it comes to his own bad end, Ascended Astarion is difficult to play just because he goes so far off the megalomaniacal deep end that he becomes a one-dimensional villain, but I'd be interested in exploring that as a facade that can be punctured, so if we already have some threads together feel free to discuss.
• despawning Astarion is pretty critical of being a vampire spawn, and doesn't feel the benefits make up for the drawbacks. This makes for a great quest hook post-game, whether in the universe of BG3 (Faerun, the land a lot of D&D is set in) or if we put our characters in a jamjar setting (stealing an old premise or inventing a new one together). Whether it's as simple as finding an enchanted item that allows him to walk in the sunlight, as complicated as bringing back Cazador so Astarion can drink his blood and become a True Vampire, or even as tropey as wishing to the Blue Fairy to be a real boy again, this is an easy excuse for any given character to be travelling with or interacting with Astarion, and demands a lot of him emotionally.
• out of his depth I love to put Astarion in worlds that are totally different to his, in culture or mores or technology levels, and assume he's been transported there from home. I know a lot of canons and I'm willing to research what I don't (and have Astarion ask questions) so it's fine to start a thread assuming Astarion has StarGated right into your character's world. Alternately, link me the info page of an old jamjar with a worldbuild you'd like to borrow. (Sex games included!)
• tropes My personal kink list also includes some story tropes i enjoy, but basically i'm always willing to spitball a vague backstory so that our characters can be stuck in a cabin, with only one bed, omg they were roommates, fake dating, etc.
I have a variety of ways I can AU Astarion to make crosscanon easier, just let me know if you want one:
• dragon age au Orlesian alienage elf, started to train as a bard, ended up sold into slavery and experimented on by blood mage Cazador, which turned him into a sort of vampire creature, rescued by the Inquisitor. I have an embarrassingly extensive amount of details for this one, spanning Inquisition through Veilguard.
• the witcher au Born in Redania, travelled to Novigrad, trafficked into prostitution as many city elves are. Astarion had a Higher Vampire as a client who paid him to do some nasty work that facilitated a series of killings. This vampire rewarded him by making him into a Nosferat, giving Astarion the power and agency to leave his old life.
• 19th century au Astarion as a bastard child who was raised Flowers In The Attic style with a side of abuse before he escaped to make his way as a teen prostitute slash career criminal. Decades later, he's leveraged the blackmail of his noble blood and some well-forged papers to join the ton as a catty fop in the hopes of marrying into a wealthy retirement. Everyone thinks his big secret is that he's gay.
• urban fantasy modern au Everything is basically the same with regards to living a long life as a miserable vampire slave, but now it was in London and, idk, elves are discriminated against or whatever.
• scifi au Astarion is a newly awakened droid in the style of Detroit Become Human, Blade Runner, Humans, Black Mirror etc. Reconciling the sex and murder of his programming with his new agency and personhood.
